Optimum Energy congratulates Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center for winning this year’s USGBC Central Pennsylvania Forever Green award last night in the climate champion category. The award highlights their chilled water optimization project, which is the central plant optimization software solution powered by Optimum Energy and in partnership with Johnson Controls.
After Optimum Energy completed the installation of central plant optimization software solution in June 2016, the center’s 12 chillers were running at peak efficiency, saving electricity costs, using less water, and reducing carbon emissions. In fact, annual energy savings are projected to be almost 4.2 GWh/year, roughly 1 GWh more than pre-project expectations, and medical center energy intensity dropped 4 percent. That translates into electricity costs savings of about $300,000 a year, and resulted in a $415,000 incentive check from their local utility.
