OptimumTRAV™ is patented, state-of-the-art configurable control software that provides continuous, system level optimization of direct digital controlled (DDC) variable air volume for greater efficiency and higher performance. Its efficiency algorithms automatically regulate airflow to deliver precise airflow while using less fan power, less chilled water, and less heating energy to meet temperature, humidity and CO2 airflow requirements.
OptimumTRAV uses demand-based relational control to reduce the amount of work performed by central air handler fans which force air through the building to meet temperature, humidity and CO2 or airflow requirements. These large fans run for long periods – whenever the building is occupied – and use substantial amounts of energy. Using OptimumTRAV relational control methods, air handler fans are regulated to meet the airflow requirements of the terminal variable air volume (VAV) units, not static pressure setpoints, so air flow through the ducts is less restricted and less fan power is required. OptimumTRAV control reduces fan speeds to the optimal level to maintain temperature, humidity and CO2 levels. Air handler fan performance is determined by the Fan Affinity Laws, so the amount of energy used by a fan is reduced by the cube ofthe reduction in speed.
The OptimumTRAV software platform works in conjunction with OptimumMVM, a web-based measurement, verification and management software as a service (SaaS) platform that acts as a continuous feedback loop. It provides detailed real-time and historical performance information that enables operators to quickly detect, diagnose and resolve system faults as theyoccur, as well as 24/7 access to efficiency performance metrics critical to benchmarking and maintaining efficient operation year after year.
OptimumTRAV provides facilities owners and managers with a variety of benefits, including:
- Reduces energy consumption
- Reduces carbon footprint
- Rogue zones are minimized and space conditions are maintained more evenly throughout the building
- Streamlines operations; reduces maintenance; lengthens equipment life
- Meets corporate social responsibility and sustainability goals
- Delivers a proven return on optimization investment via measureable reductions in energy costs
- Qualifies users for utility incentives and tax credits
- Earns operators LEED certification points, improves Energy Star ratings and earns green building certificates
