Real-Time Dynamic Commissioning (RTDC)
Definition: A dynamic sequencing solution will always adapt to conditions and obtain peak performance. The use of cloud-based software and services that provide analytics and management that enable Real-Time Dynamic Commissioning© (RTDC) is the most effective way to ensure a chilled water plant can respond in real-time to hanging cooling load requirements caused by weather, occupancy, comfort requirements or varying process loads from data centers or manufacturing.

Equal Marginal Performance Principal (EMPP)
Definition: The Equal Marginal Performance Principle (EMPP) states that the energy performance of any system operating with multiple modulating components is optimized when the change in system output (called the marginal system output) per unit energy input is the same for all individual components in the system. Since system output per unit input is the definition of coefficient of performance (COP), marginal system output per unit energy input also is called marginal COP or marginal performance.

Relational Control
Definition: Relational Control is a control technology developed for modern digital network controls. It is focused on replacing PID (Proportion, Integral, Derivative) Control when the control platform has suitable networking features. The benefits include a reduction in distribution-pumping-energy requirements to less than one-half of conventional distribution-energy requirements. Furthermore, average valve-repositioning frequency can be reduced from one-tenth to a hundredth of what is required conventionally. Much greater control stability under nearly all operating conditions usually is achievable. And when coupled with demand-based control in plant and distribution systems, Relational Control is far more effective, with the opportunity to ensure that all loads are satisfied all of the time.

Affinity Law
Definition: There is a law in physics called the Affinity Law that states the energy used is proportional to the cube of the speed of the motor. So reducing the speed by half reduces the energy used to 1/8th of full speed. A key to realizing the benefits of the affinity law is the knowledge behind the sequences being sent to the VFDs. This is exactly what Optimum Energy does. The mathematical equations used by the OE solution deliver the required demand-based operational directions to the plant’s components, maximizing the affinity law efficiency opportunities.
