New Executive Team Member Adds Broad Operational Expertise to Company
SEATTLE — May 17, 2011 — Optimum Energy LLC today announced the appointment of Mark Bretl as vice president of products and technology. Bretl will lead the software development, engineering and product delivery teams and will be responsible for enhancing the company’s cloud-based HVAC analytics software solutions, as well as broadening the company’s product and services portfolio.

Bretl has 30 years of experience in the software industry with a strong background in all phases of operations. Before joining Optimum Energy, he was vice president of Kinetic Books Company, with responsibility for engineering, sales and marketing at different points during his tenure with the company. Prior to Kinetic Books, he served as vice president of the Media Systems Division of RealNetworks, Inc., leading the Real Broadcast Network, Internet and consumer appliances business units, as well as heading up product development for the division. Bretl also served as chief operating officer and vice president of operations and finance at Vivo Software, Inc., a startup company acquired by RealNetworks, Inc. He began his career as a software engineer at Tecmar, Inc., a manufacturer of computer peripheral product and scientific and medical instruments, where he ultimately became company president.
